Annoying Google Play bug complains about missing update that doesn’t exist (Update: Fix rollout)

- Some Android users are getting a persistent error notification urging them to update Google Play Services to restore app functionality.

Update: March 20, 2025 (9:17 AM ET): A Google spokesperson has told Android Authority that a fix for the error mentioned in this article is rolling out. The company says the fix “should reach the majority of devices in the next few hours.”
