Not too long ago, former Nokia licensee HMD announced the arrival of its first-ever Android Go-powered smartphone, the HMD Arc. Launched for select markets with basic specs, it looks like HMD has decided to relaunch the Arc for buyers in Australia, with a new name this time around.
Known as the HMD Aura² for folks down under, the phone comes with pretty much the same hardware specifications as seen on the HMD Arc – this includes the same Unisoc chipset, a 6.52-inch display with a 576 x 1280 pixel resolution and 460 nits of peak brightness, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, a 5,000 mAh battery, as well as a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front camera.

If you’re wondering why the phone comes with low-end specs, that’s because the Aura² comes with Android 14 Go Edition, a more basic and lightweight version of Google’s smartphone operating system. As for the HMD Arc, the phone was spotted back in December via HMD’s Thai website.
