Phew! Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 might not use the Exynos 2500

If you’re not a fan of Samsung’s Exynos chipsets, you’re not alone. However, you might have been alarmed when there were rumors suggesting that Samsung could equip the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with the Exynos 2500. The good news is that you can sort of breathe easy. It turns ut Samsung might not go with the Exynos 2500 after all.

According to a recent report from Korean publication The Bell, Samsung has started mass production of the Exynos 2500. However, the reason the Exynos 2500 might skip the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is due to low yields. The report estimates that yields are sitting below 50%. This means that Samsung can only produce roughly 5,000 chips per month.

It is expected that this could fall further down to 3,000-3,500 chips per month. Seeing as that might be the case, Samsung will probably end up using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Flip 7. As for the Exynos 2500 chips, Samsung is rumored to potentially keep those for the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

The Flip FE is rumored to be a more affordable variant of the Galaxy Z Flip series. However, even then we suggest you don’t get your hopes up of seeing it just yet. Due to the low yields, Samsung might choose to launch the Flip FE in limited markets. This is a similar approach the company took with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, the model that the upcoming Fold 7 is rumored to be based on.
