Realme teases “ultra-large” camera sensor for MWC 2025

The problem with a lot of smartphone marketing these days is that numbers sell. This is why many smartphone makers love to boast how many megapixels their camera are packing. However, megapixels only tell one side of the story. This is why we’re particularly excited to see what realme has in store at MWC as the company has teased an ultra-large camera sensor.

According to realme’s announcement, the company says they will be showing off a “groundbreaking” camera phone at MWC 2025. The handset in question will feature an “ultra-large” sensor. We’re not sure what that means, but hopefully we’re looking at a smartphone with at least a 1-inch sensor.

So far, there aren’t that many smartphones with 1-inch camera sensors. To date, only brands such as Xiaomi and Vivo have launched phones with 1-inch sensors. That alone is impressive. If realme launches a device with a similar sensor, that’d be great. If they manage to go even bigger, then color us impressed.

Larger sensors are better than megapixels. This is because larger sensors allow more light to be captured. More light equals more data, which makes for better photographs. This isn’t to say that megapixels aren’t important. However, in this day and age of social media, resolution isn’t quite as important as overall quality.

Either way, we should have more details come MWC 2025, so stay tuned for the updates!
