Reebok smart glasses launch ahead of Meta’s rumored Oakley collab

Meta has been rumored to be working with Oakley on a new set of smart glasses aimed at active users, but Innovative Eyewear has quietly beaten them to the punch. The company, which previously developed smart glasses for brands like Lucyd, Nautica, and Eddie Bauer, is back with a new lineup — this time partnering with Reebok.

The Reebok smart glasses don’t try to reinvent the category. Instead, they focus on making outdoor activities a little smarter. They come equipped with high-fidelity speakers, tuned amplifiers, and outdoor-specific equalizers to offer more precise sound while still letting you stay aware of your surroundings — a must if you’re running, biking, or just walking through the city.

Water and sweat resistance are standard, and the glasses feature polarized UV400 lenses to help with bright outdoor conditions. Battery life is rated for up to 12 hours of music or calls, which should be enough to last through long workouts or day trips.

There’s AI integration, too. iPhone users can summon Siri, and Android users can set their favorite voice assistant. In theory, you could even link them to apps like ChatGPT, which would seriously boost their usefulness.

Still, manage your expectations. These are not “smart glasses” in the sci-fi sense. There’s no built-in display, no augmented reality. They’re basically a glorified pair of sporty, voice-controlled headphones — just shaped like sunglasses.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. For $199, available now at Lucyd.co, they deliver simple, functional tech that works. And for people who care more about fitness than futuristic screens, they might be a perfect fit.
