MediaTek has just recently announced the debut of its Dimensity 6400 chipset, one of its latest additions to its 2025 series of mobile device processors. While it is technically a new release, it’s rather close in terms of specifications to the 6300, albeit with a bit of overclocking involved.
While the 6400 features 2X Arm Cortex-A76 performance cores of up to 2.5GHz, along with 6X Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores of up to 2.0GHz, it’s interesting to note that these have been used by MediaTek since their initial debut in the late 2010s. You’ll also find a Arm Mali-G57 MC2 which is in charge of graphics processing.

The Dimensity 6400 also features support for device displays with up to 2520 x 1080 pixel resolutions and 120Hz refresh rates, native 108MP image capture as well as dual 16MP + 16MP, and MediaTek says that its integrated “HyperEngine” can reduce power consumption by as much as 19% during gaming sessions.
Given that it’s part of MediaTek’s Dimensity 6XXX series chips, it’s safe to say that we can see the 6400 in action in budget smartphones and tablets within the coming months.
