Former T-Mobile exec Clint Patterson joined Project Kuiper as its new chief marketing officer at a pivotal time for Amazon’s broadband internet network.

Patterson spent more than 11 years at T-Mobile, most recently as a senior vice president of product marketing. He previously led communications for Officer and Office 365 at Microsoft.

He just capped off his first week with Amazon — a week that included the launch of the first full-scale satellites in its Project Kuiper constellation.

“Every week will be like this, right?!?” Patterson quipped on LinkedIn.

Patterson called his stint at T-Mobile “epic.” He led teams working on PR, brand, and social as T-Mobile went through its acquisition of Sprint on the way to being “the world’s most highly-valued telco,” as Patterson noted.

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s effort to build a satellite-based broadband network that could eventually serve millions of people around the world. It’s seen as a competitor for SpaceX’s Starlink network, which already has more than 7,000 satellites in low Earth orbit and more than 5 million users.
