The Garmin Tactix 8 Takes Smartwatch Durability to a Whole New Level

Garmin is known for its many high-end smartwatches that defy the elements such as the Fenix and Instinct series, there’s clearly still room to push the boundaries according to Garmin – as a result, the company recently introduced its new flagship smartwatch, the Tactix 8.

The Tactix 8 incorporates the physical durability and design of its siblings and packs all the signature Garmin software features for health and fitness tracking, along with a few more extras. One of these is integrated Applied Ballistics Ultralight solver, and compatibility with the AB Quantum app and AB Elite solver support.  Also present are navigation capabilities via TopoActive maps, and Dynamic round-trip routing that suggests routes for users.

As for fitness, there’s a wide range of fitness features, including activity profiles for rucking, strength training, and various sports, and real-time stamina tracking and training readiness scores. The watch is also able to track metrics like endurance and VO2 max, and provides 24/7 health monitoring with Pulse Ox, Body Battery, sleep tracking, and even ECG support. A 40-meter dive rating and scuba/apnea support round out the package.

As for design, the Tactix 8 comes in 47mm and 51mm variants, both of which are encased in a rugged design with a titanium bezel and sapphire display. Garmin’s flagship outdoor wearable starts at $1,300.
